  1. Ellicott Creek Park island

    A roughly 15-acre off-leash island in Ellicott Creek Park — unique in that it isn't fenced; the creek is its boundary, with access over a double-gated footbridge. Dogs roam shaded paths and a 'dog beach' with multiple points of creek access for swimming.

  2. Front Beach

    Isle of Palms is the Charleston area's premier off-leash dog beach, with miles of hard-packed Atlantic sand. Dogs run leash-free during early-morning summer hours and a long overnight window in the off-season.

  3. Sullivan's Island beachfront

    A famously dog-loving beach with a long off-leash morning window — until noon in the off-season. Wide, flat sand at low tide makes it a favorite for letting dogs run.

  4. Uptown (lakefront) · 601 W Montrose Ave, Chicago, IL 60613

    Chicago's famous off-leash dog beach at the north end of Montrose Beach — an official Dog Friendly Area where dogs swim and run leash-free on the sand and in Lake Michigan. The city's premier warm-weather dog destination.

  5. Edgewater / Lakefront Reservation · Perkins Beach, W of Edgewater Beach, Cleveland, OH 44102

    The westernmost end of Edgewater Beach is Cleveland Metroparks' designated dog area, where dogs run off-leash on the sand and splash into Lake Erie. It's the region's signature dog-swim spot, with a rinse-off station nearby.

  6. Belmont Shore · 5000 E Ocean Blvd, Long Beach, CA 90803

    LA County’s only legal off-leash ocean beach: a roughly 3-acre marked Dog Zone of open surf and sand in Belmont Shore. Dogs run leash-free in the water and on the sand between Granada and Roycroft Avenues.
