The Best Dog Parks & Beaches in Orlando

Orlando has one truly special off-leash spot and a solid set of fenced dog parks behind it. The star is Lake Baldwin Park in Winter Park (you’ll also see its old name, Fleet Peeples) — a fenced, oak-shaded run on Lake Baldwin with a sandy beach where dogs wade and swim; it’s one of the best dog-swim spots in Florida, and humans aren’t even allowed in the water. Everywhere else is a dry fenced park, and the Florida rule that matters most: Lake Baldwin is the only sanctioned dog-swim water — keep dogs out of every other lake and pond, because gators are real. Here are the verified spots, with the rules that apply, each checked against the official source.

Orlando dog parks & beaches: FAQ

Where can my dog swim off-leash in Orlando?
Lake Baldwin Park in Winter Park (formerly Fleet Peeples Park) is the spot — a fenced, oak-shaded off-leash park with a sandy beach on Lake Baldwin where dogs wade and swim. It’s one of the best dog-swim spots in Florida, and it’s sanctioned: dogs are allowed in the water even though people aren’t. There are doggie showers on site to rinse off afterward. It’s the only designated dog-swim lake in the metro.
Is it safe to let my dog in Orlando lakes and ponds?
Only at Lake Baldwin Park. Central Florida’s lakes, ponds and retention waters can harbor alligators, so keep your dog out of all of them except the sanctioned Lake Baldwin dog beach. The other dog parks here (Dr. Phillips, Barber, Downey, Park of the Americas) are dry fenced parks — bring drinking water rather than expecting a swim.
Are Orlando dog parks free, and what are the hours?
Yes — every spot here is free and fully fenced. Lake Baldwin runs 8 AM–sunset (closed until noon the 2nd and 4th Wednesday each month). The Orange County parks (Dr. Phillips, Barber, Downey) run seasonal hours: 8 AM–8 PM in summer and 8 AM–6 PM in winter. The city’s Park of the Americas is open 7 AM–9 PM.
Is Fleet Peeples Park the same as Lake Baldwin Park?
Yes — the City of Winter Park officially renamed Fleet Peeples Park to Lake Baldwin Park. It’s the same place at 2000 S Lakemont Ave on Lake Baldwin; you’ll just see both names online.
Where can my dog be off-leash right now?
Open the live map — each spot shows whether off-leash is allowed at the current date and time, including Lake Baldwin’s maintenance-Wednesday closures.
Can I add a spot?
Yes — open the live map, drop a pin, snap a photo, and it’s on the map for every dog owner.
