Edgewater Dog Beach (Perkins / K-9 Coastline)
The westernmost end of Edgewater Beach is Cleveland Metroparks' designated dog area, where dogs run off-leash on the sand and splash into Lake Erie. It's the region's signature dog-swim spot, with a rinse-off station nearby.
Lake Erie water is cold and can have strong waves and rip currents — many dogs swim, but watch the surf and undertow on windy days.
Off-leash is only the marked westernmost zone; the main swim beach to the east is leash-required and bans dogs. (Metroparks’ general ordinance technically requires an 8-ft leash, so treat off-leash here as a designated-area courtesy.)
Unfenced and open to the lake — recall matters. Midwest winters close swim season; sand and water are frigid Nov–Apr.
