Wedekind Regional Park Off-Leash Area
An expansive natural off-leash area on former mining land in north Sparks, listed by Washoe County among its designated off-leash dog areas. Rugged, trail-laced terrain rather than a manicured park — good for dogs that love to roam.
Unfenced backcountry-style terrain with split-rail fencing only along trails — strong recall and voice control are a must.
No water on site; the exposed high-desert setting gets very hot in summer and cold in winter, so pack water and watch for goatheads/cheatgrass in paws.
Dogs must be leashed entering and exiting; clean-up is required by Washoe County Chapter 55.
