Sparks' signature dog spot: a fenced leash-free area on the southeast shore of the 77-acre Marina lake with its own sandy dog beach where dogs wade and swim. It's the one place at the Marina where dogs are allowed off-leash and in the water.
Fencing is partial and the area opens to the lake, so small dogs can slip through and dogs can swim around it — keep recall solid near the water.
High-desert summers are hot and dry at ~4,500 ft; the lake makes this the best warm-weather swim option, but bring shade and drinking water for midday.
Dogs must be leashed everywhere else in the park and are banned from the human swim areas — off-leash and swimming are confined to the dog park.
