Franciscan Park (Bell Street Dog Park)
A city-owned, fully fenced wooded park behind the historic Bell Street Chapel that has served as Providence's West Side dog run since 1999. The shaded, double-gated lot is free and open to dogs of all sizes.
The City of Providence built this park (purchased 1995, opened 1999); for issues, Providence Parks & Rec has jurisdiction.
Closes at 9 PM; the heavily treed ground turns to mud in wet weather and gets icy through New England winters.
No separate small-dog pen — it’s a single shared off-leash area, so size-mismatched play is on owners to manage.
