Shirlington Dog Park
One of Arlington's first off-leash parks (1995): a long, ~2-acre 'Community Canine Area' running a quarter-mile along Four Mile Run, with stream access where dogs love to wade and swim.
Free lot off S Oakland St; overflow street parking in Shirlington Village nearby.
Good to know
The grassy play corridor is fenced end-to-end, but a gate in the middle opens to the unfenced Four Mile Run stream — once you go down to the water your dog is no longer enclosed. Stream access is at your own risk (stormwater, bacteria).
Separate areas for large and small dogs, with a paved center path, water spigots, and waste stations.
Dogs must be leashed on the connecting trails and until inside the off-leash area.
