Shaw Dog Park
One of DC's largest off-leash dog parks (~15,000 sq ft), fully fenced with a pea-gravel/stone-dust surface. Run as a partnership between DPR and the Shaw Dog Park Association.
Street parking on 11th & R Sts NW (metered/residential); easiest by Metro (Shaw–Howard U).
Good to know
Two separate enclosures: a large active play area plus a smaller pen for dogs under 25 lbs, seniors, and physically challenged dogs.
All dogs must display a DC Dog Exercise Area (DEA) Registration Tag; DC residents need a current DC Dog License (proof of rabies + distemper) before they can get the tag.
Free to use, but DPR rules apply: max 3 dogs per handler, no dogs under 4 months, no dogs in heat, clean up after your dog.
