The Paw Park (Amherst)
Amherst's official off-leash dog park, on town-owned land at the Smith Road Municipal Complex (a former Nike missile base), run by the all-volunteer Amherst Paw Park Association. About an acre of fully fenced, double-gated space with separate small- and large-dog sections, lit for evening visits.
The Town of Amherst owns the land; the volunteer APPA nonprofit runs it on donations — free to all licensed dogs, residents or not.
Dogs must be licensed, vaccinated, spayed/neutered, and wear a visible license tag.
Open and exposed — heavy lake-effect snow can limit winter access; check with APPA after big storms.
