Red Bud Isle
A wooded island peninsula below the Tom Miller Dam, surrounded by water on three sides — one of Austin's most popular off-leash spots for swimming and play. The whole island is an open, unfenced off-leash area.
Unfenced and ringed by open water on all sides — solid recall is essential; a dog that bolts goes straight into the lake or current.
Watch for harmful blue-green algae: the City warns toxin-producing algae in Lady Bird Lake can harm or kill dogs. Check posted advisories before swimming, especially summer/fall.
Shaded dirt trails, no on-site water fountains — bring your own.
