Off Leash at U.S. National Whitewater Center
A 70-acre fenced off-leash area within the U.S. National Whitewater Center, with 3 ponds, beaches, a dock, 2.5 miles of trail and a dog-wash station. This is the area’s true dog-swim destination — but it’s a paid, private non-profit facility, not a free county park.
Off-leash during Whitewater Center hours (~9 AM–dusk; check the daily schedule)
Surface
Grass / dirt
Parking & access
Whitewater Center parking (parking fee applies).
Good to know
Not free: each dog needs an Off Leash pass (about $12/day or $25/month; add-ons to an Annual Pass), max 3 dogs per person.
Open during Whitewater Center hours, not 7:30 AM–sunset like county parks — confirm the daily schedule before going.
The 3 ponds and beaches are made for swimming — a strong NC-summer cool-down — with a dog-wash station on site; still bring water for the heat.
